Hello, i want to teach u how to partition a hard drive without formatting in ur windows 7 and later operating systems.
The basic advantage of partitioning a hard drive is to prevent data loss, in a case where ur computer gets attacked by virus, u just format the windows partition that is the Local disk (C:) without having to touch ur data partition.
lets get to work
click on start,
right click on "computer",
click on manage,
click "disk management" on the Computer management console,
locate the drive u want to split,
lets say ur computer has just one partition and u want to split that partition into two,
right click on the drive and click shrink volume,
enter the amount of space u want to shrink,
Note: u can't shrink more than the size available to shrink,
then click shrink,
after shrinking u will see an unallocated partition,
right click on it and click new simple volume,
click next,
enter the size of disk u wish to create in megabytes and click next,
change the Volume label to anything u wish and click next,
then finish.
check the number of drives u have.
that will be all for now.
