Crimping can be a tiresome job, but it is not rocket science, having knowlegde of what to do and how to apply it is the key to crimp a network cable.
There two types of network cables, it depends on what you want to use the cable for, they are straight-through and Cross over cable.
Requirement on how to crimp a network cable
- You will need a crimping tool
- A Lan Tester,
- Then you will need a network cable probably Cat-6 or Cat-5
- And R-J 45.
Steps to Crimp a Network Cable (Straight-through)
We are going to learn straight-through cable first (cables that transfer network connection from a switch or hub to a system)
There is a colour code for this type of cable,
The colour code for this cable we are talking about is;
Orange White, Orange, Green White, Blue, Blue White , Green, Brown White, Brown.
And it is the same for both ends of the cable as you can see in the image below.
The next thing to do is to arrange the cables in the R-J 45 this way:

Then after carefully arranging it in the RJ-45, crimp it with the crimping tool. You also do the same thing on the other end.
After doing that it is now time to test your job for accuracy, a normal LAN tester usually has 1-8 numbers signifying the 8 diffferent wires in the cable, if anyone skips or it reads a number before its turn you know that
the job is not done well. But if the tester reads serially from 1-8, you got it right.

Steps to Crimp a Network Cable (Cross-Over)
The second type of crimping is used when you want to connect same devices to each other like, connecting a computer to a computer.
The colour code for this cable is
Orange White, Orange, Green White, Blue, Blue White , Green, Brown White, Brown. for one end and
Green White, Green, Orange White, Brown White, Brown, Orange, Blue, Blue White for the other end
After doing that it is now time to test enjoy.
Note that this cable cannot be tested for accuracy because it will not read in the tester, so if it do not connect between the system you just recrimp it.
